Introduction to Woodcarving

Learn a variety of safe carving techniques to create a series of angles and contours, how to work with the features and qualities of the wood, and then undertake a a final project to bring everything together.

Tree Identification

Starting with the most common species found in England, we will guide you through the features that you can use to identify species, as well as their traditional and craft uses.

Sharpening 101

Tools with a good, reliable edge make woodcraft safer, easier and more enjoyable. Starting with the basics of different knife kinds of edges, you will be taught how to sharpen and maintain a sharp, long-lasting edge.

Collecting Natural Fibres

A journey through several natural materials, all requiring different gathering and processing. Through making cords, we will explore how to care for and best use them in future projects.

Woodland Management

Whether you have a woodland to manage or visit woods whilst journeying, this course will help you understand how they sustain themselves over time and give you the ability to care for them.

Introduction to Tracking

We will begin by exploring the senses and basic tracking techniques and signs. You will also learn about animal psychology and landscapes before being invited to undertake a tracking project.

Forest Bathing

Time in the natural world can be incredibly re-energising. Learn how to develop a therapeutic forest bathing practice for yourself as well as your loved ones through a fun and imaginative approach.

Introduction to Foraging

Develop an understanding of different kinds of foraging, from spring leaves and summer fruits to autumnal roots. Understand the importance of identification and selection.

Fire Craft

From collecting tinder through to the benefits of different fire lays, this course will give you a good foundation for your campfires. Learn different ignition techniques and species to use.
